Practice Director

Quentin Hill

Quentin is an experienced client and process focussed professional leading Morrison Geotechnic. He brings a diverse range of skills including relationship management, ESG values, leadership, project and people management, and geology gained over a 25 year career in technical and leadership roles in the resources and construction industries.

Quentin had an early career across a wide range of roles, including engineering geology in greater Brisbane and exploration geology across Australia and government. Later, over seven years as Managing Director of a listed resource company, Quentin developed deep project delivery, feasibility and stakeholder management skills and honed his managerial, strategic and capital raising skills engaging with some of the world’s leading miners, steel and trading companies. Quentin brings passion, vision and integrity as Practice Director.

Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Simon Wynne

Simon is an RPEQ qualified geotechnical engineer with 18 years experience. Simon is a specialist in management and execution of broad scale and detailed geotechnical investigations, designs and site assessments from proposal to report completion.

Simon also has deep experience with 6 years as an RPEQ in verification and inspection of shallow and deep foundations including bored piles, temporary excavations, providing geotechnical advice on general construction and earthworks projects throughout south east Queensland.

Simon is responsive and tailors advice to meet client needs and draws on his deep experience to add value to his small and tier one clients where appropriate.

Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Davor Dragun

Davor is a professional registered geotechnical engineer with 17 years hands-on experience and is a construction inspection and verification specialist including site inspection of shallow and deep footings, temporary excavation stability and providing geotechnical engineering advice on general and earthworks projects.

He has eight (8) years as an RPEQ working as a professional in the civil and mining industries gaining wide ranging geotechnical investigation experience throughout Queensland, New South Wales and Papua New Guinea.

Davor has the confidence of many large and small clients and takes pride in being responsive and providing pragmatic solutions to clients geotechnical issues.

Principal Geotechnical Engineer

Mark Ballard

Mark is a chartered Civil and RPEQ Engineer with over 30 years’ specialist geotechnical experience comprising of both the investigating, design, and construction aspects of a wide variety of geotechnical processes in addition to have also acted forensic engineering within the insurance sector.

Mark's experience has been gained working in multidisciplinary teams and achieving the successful completion of a large range of commercial, industrial, residential, government, mining, and civil infrastructure projects.
Mark provides support to the Morrisons team in his position as a Principal Engineer ensuring Morrisons can deliver pragmatic solutions to the range of complex geotechnical issues clients face in South East Queensland.

Senior Geoscientist

Russell Howchin

Russell is a senior environmental science professional with 18 years experience, working with Morrison Geotechnic since 2005. Russell has developed deep knowledge and experience of the environmental and geotechnical developmental requirements across all the councils in South East Queensland.

This includes the increasing regulatory requirements for and understanding of acid sulfate soils (ASS), sediment dispersion and erosion control. He is a certified professional in erosion and sediment control (CPESC) and member of the International Erosion and Sediment Control Association.

Russell’s experience across construction verification, environmental and geotechnical investigations means Russell is an important member of the Morrisons team providing expert and trusted advice to clients.

Laboratory Manager

Rhys Vanderkly

Rhys leads our Brisbane West construction material testing laboratory in Darra and comes with a wide range of technical and management experience. Rhys started his career with Coffey’s, later gaining valuable experience with QLD Transport and Main Roads (TMR) and others. His qualifications include the relevant construction materials testing Diploma, he is also highly proficient in the relevant test methods and practical earthworks solutions.

Over his 15 year career Rhys has established and managed regional, metropolitan and large site based CMT laboratories, audited testing contractors to NATA and TMR standards and carried out field testing and detailed earthworks supervision. Rhys has also developed a range of experience in leadership, mentoring and management of large teams and client relationships that underpin the quality and response objectives of our laboratory and earthworks services.
